Privacy

MemeGenerator.dev is built privacy-first. Meme rendering happens entirely in your browser with the Canvas API — the images you upload or edit are never sent to a server.

No upload, no account

There is no sign-up and no account. You don't provide an email address, and we don't store your memes. Uploaded images are read locally to render the canvas and are not transmitted anywhere.

Local storage

To make the editor convenient, your current draft and a small list of recent text-only projects may be saved in your browser's localStorage. This stays on your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings. Uploaded image bytes are not persisted.

Sharing

When you create a share link, the lightweight template/color and text state is encoded directly into the URL you choose to share — it is not stored on any server. Projects that include uploaded images are exported as a local .meme.json file instead.
